SUBJECT: Post-Workout Coffee

Faces can tell stories in a different manner than an interior shot without people. This harkens back to what we consider "emotional shots", images that create a feel, which in turn leads to bookings. Images such as this can bring the potential guest into the scene. Instead of a literal interpretation of a workout facility, which is important in its own context, an image inset of someone who has just used or is enjoying the facility can be equally effective.

Here we photographed a sports model, representing a post workout sip of coffee. We kept the background simple and the content iconic so the image would be readable even if it were to run small. We used two broad light sources placed 180 degrees apart from lens axis, and a large fill card just below the lens. The result is subtle, pleasing, and tells the story.
