SUBJECT: Penthouse

For that special occasion, where you just need to have more room than you can possibly use, or maybe you want to invite 30 special friends along on your vacation, this penthouse will do more than provide just basic shelter. Vaulted ceilings, gorgeous hardwood floors, an incredible view, and a gourmet kitchen are just part of the package, and it was our job to show it off in its best light.

These macro shots are always a bit tricky - just so much information and we have to fit it and tell the story in a fairly small box. Lighting a space like this can be a good-sized ordeal, especially with more traditional lighting techniques. Since we use a specialized lighting system, we can really save a lot of time for a shot like this, but still yield a real quality image.

Usually, floors aren't much of a challenge - but we really wanted to bring out the beautiful wood grain in the floor, and took special care to emphasize the light in the right areas. We had to be careful not to wash out the very light walls and ceiling while shooting. And while the room sports a beautiful widescreen television, it would have to be a pretty good show to get your eyes off of the beautiful view of the foothills.
