HOTEL: Crown Plaza Hotel
LOCATION: Changi Airport, Singapore
SUBJECT: Deluxe Queen Room
There's something about the feeling you get when as a photographer, you first lay eyes on the room you're about to shoot - it's like a first date, without the awkward silence and potential for humiliation. When we walked into this room, we noticed elements that got us very excited to shoot it. In particular, the panels of glass with the orchids etched on it were particularly unique. The color palate and layout of the room were clean and fresh. Honestly, this was one of the nicest airport hotels we had ever encountered.
Located at Changi International Airport, the Crowne Plaza Hotel was not simply a place to sleep prior to an early morning flight - it was a destination unto itself. The architecture was impressive yet inviting, the rooms stylish yet welcoming.
The room itself was rather large, but it was L-shaped, so we chose a straight on view of the sleeping area. With a fairly small space to work in, we utilized the pooled lighting (notice the floor to the left of the bed, headboard, and lower area of the love seat) to again create spacial dimension. This is our biggest challenge when shooting small areas.
International destination shoots can be tricky. To stay on schedule, we were shooting this room at 2am local time, after flying for nearly 17 hours. Glamorous, yes?
