HOTEL: The Palazzo

LOCATION: Las Vegas, Nevada

SUBJECT: Palazzo Luxury Suite

This living area was a fantastic and bold subject just waiting for some good lighting. This proved to be a relatively challenging task. Notice the white leather in the chairs and ottoman. Now glance over at the woodwork to the right of the frame. This piece had a dark cherry finish, which was about as dark a wood grain as I'd ever seen. We had to pay particular attention to brining out texture in the wood, while holding the highlight detail in the chairs and ottoman.

It was a bright sunny afternoon, and the zones we had to light were numerous to make it all match. In all, we ended up with 54 exposures for this single image. Bigger spaces require more light, and the deep contrast range just added to the work. In the end, we were able to capture the living area successfully.
