Mykonos Town Panorama

Hospitality Photography

LOCATION: Mykonos, Greece

SUBJECT: Panorama of Mykonos Town

Some places just lend themselves to the perspective of a panorama. It's a great deal of extra work, and if there really isn't justification, a standard sized image would do just fine. The moment we sailed into port, I realized Mykonos Town deserved a panorama - and I was more than happy to shoot it.

We placed ourselves just above the town, next to a series of old windmills that were built long ago to produce energy and crush grain. They're preserved very well, and are an iconic presence in this unique Greek Isle. From atop the hillside you could look out over both the bay and the town. The image you see here took 33 frames to shoot, and encompasses about 290 degrees across the horizon.

Notice the clipper ship in the bay - this is where we were shooting much of the time. The name of the cruise line is Star Clippers. They specialize in smaller clipper ships that provide a more personalized cruising experience. It was a great way to see the Greek Islands and explore some of the smaller ports and areas that larger ships cannot access.

The waterfront in Mykonos Town was full of lively characters and great food - we enjoyed a plate of calamari and a cold bottle of Mythos, a Greek beer.
