We just love the Mayflower. They're a great client. They're steeped in history, dating back to 1927. Their rooms contain traditional Queen Anne Style furnishings, and comfortable bathrobes. But what makes this place special is the people. You get big-city elegance with small-town charm.

That aside, this executive suite was quite the challenge to shoot. When you see how deep it is, including the bedroom all the way in the back, the lighting and styling challenges were numerous. We wanted to accentuate the warmth of the space, kind of an early evening cocktail hour vibe. Notice our light touch in styling with the bottle of wine and glasses on the table? We really go light with much of our styling, letting the essence of the space come out on its own. The pooled lighting can be seen throughout the area - especially behind the round table toward the back. The distance from the table to the nearby wall is next to nothing, and traditional lighting techniques would render this area quite flat. But since we were able to pump the light up between the table and wall, we were able to establish a visual separation that works quite well.

Another charm to the Mayflower is its amazing martini bar next to the lobby. Huge pane windows allow you to check out the sidewalk traffic while sipping on some of Seattle's best martinis. Try a classic vodka martini - dirty straight up. Another special is the Paradigm Shift - Seattle’s Best Specialty Martini in the 1999 Martini Classic Challenge. Ketel One vodka, Bombay gin, Campari, fresh raspberry sour, and a squeeze of Texas Ruby Red grapefruit.
