Interior Hotel Photography – Seattle Marriott Waterfront Lobby

Interior Hotel Photography

HOTEL: Seattle Marriott Waterfront

LOCATION: Seattle, Washington

SUBJECT: Lobby Area

The great thing about this lobby space is the grand yet intimate nature. Not many lobbies can pull that off successfully. While they placed items within the lobby that are eye-catching, they all seem to be in scale to its surroundings. The Dale Chihuly glass sculpture which anchors the center point of the area is eye catching without being over bearing. The Italian glass chandelier not only illuminates but decorates. The area is very shootable, and didn't present too many challenges - except for the twenty people in the shot that you don't see.

Yes, around twenty individuals were occupying this lobby at the time we shot. Again, with our ability to shoot sections of an image, and then blend it together on the computer, it was simply a matter of "herding" the guests into the areas we weren't focused on. When we were shooting the couch to the right, we'd make sure our guests were not in that section, same with the chairs on the left. We would then blend these images together in Photoshop - a total of 37 individual images were used to create this single blended image.

The location of the Seattle Waterfront Marriott sits in a great location. It has amazing vistas of the Puget Sound, and is just a block away from the famed Pike Place Market. Many guests utilize this hotel when catching a cruise ship out of Seattle, as the terminal just blocks from the hotel.
