HOTEL: Drury Plaza Hotel Chesterfield

LOCATION: Chesterfield, Missouri

SUBJECT: Lobby Area

This was a real challenge on a couple of levels. First let me say that tremendous Missouri spirit is always refreshing to this west-coaster. Everyone at the Chesterfield property was helpful beyond words, and really took an interest in how we were able to pull of this shot. That said, we had a real mix of bright daylight in some areas, mixed with warm tungsten lights that filled the lobby. Our color balance was a careful mix of both types of lighting, since neither was the predominant light source.

An even bigger problem was that the lobby was filling fast with four or five little league teams that were playing in a local tournament. After some careful coordination, we were able to "shift" bodies from one are of the lobby to the other. Often these bodies were still in the shot - just not the area we were lighting at the time. The only body to make it in this shot was the desk clerk, and he had no clue we would actually USE the image of him in the frame!
