SUBJECT: Pool Area at Dusk

Again, we're working long hours. Here we are able to capture the tranquility of the pool at dusk, a time when most people are enjoying the restaurants and bars of the local area.

An area this large, and with so many exposure zones required around 35 separate images. Color enhancement and contrast were key in evoking the proper emotion in this image. Notice the difference in hue between the pool and the sky. Too much matching blue and the eye becomes confused and there is no center of focus.

An off-center composition works well in this instance, with the palm tree anchoring the right side of the image. The water features that intertwine a series of pools add a level of visual interest to the scene. Notice the small waterfall in the lower left hand corner, a way to have the multiple pools come together and lower in elevation in a step-like manner.

Another thing to consider when shooting the pool area is to try and draw a visual relation to the building itself. In this example, we are able to provide both emotional pull AND information to the potential guest.
