HOTEL: Inn at Spanish Head

LOCATION: Lincoln City, Oregon

SUBJECT: Bath Area - Twin Shower Head

It's not too often you see bathrooms photographed for marketing purposes. More often than not, they're small, not very interesting, and have very few distinguishing features. Throw in a dual head shower and some really nice tiling, and you have an exception to the rule. As you can see, the space was still quite small, and the creation of a quality image was no easy undertaking. One of our largest challenges was the panel mirror hanging on the wall. This severely restricts the types of lighting you can achieve, which is why the overall feel of the picture is a little flat for my liking.

That said, there were still major accomplishments to this image. One involved how we were able to bring out the streams of water in the image - not an easy task considering the size of the room, and the brightness of the overall exposure. This took a combination of zone exposure, backlighting the water, and some careful manipulation on Photoshop.

Minimal styling was done with the single bud vase to break up the color of the wall, and we worked hard to keep the streams of water from splashing onto areas we didn't want hit with water - a tricky but rewarding photograph.
