LOCATION: Rome, Italy
SUBJECT: The Tiber River with St. Peter's Basilica
What can we say about this - an amazing sunset was provided for us as we captured St. Peter's Basilica with the Tiber River in the foreground. The dome beckons attention in this shot, and rightly so. St. Peter's has the largest interior of any Christian church in the world, holding up to 60,000 people.
It makes a fantastic backdrop for many scenic shots in Rome, but the Tiber River is a great accompaniment to such a grand structure. In a previous professional life, I would shoot scenics for various travel magazines. That prepared me well to photograph the surrounding areas when certain properties need such images. It seems to be more and more popular these days to show imagery on websites that help to sell not just the property, but the area surrounding it.
We absolutely loved Rome - the history, the people, and of course... the food. While we enjoy shooting scenics, we give up the control we have when shooting a property. We're at the mercy of weather conditions, construction, crowds, and any number of elements that can make the production of solid imagery a bit more dicey. But as I've said before, we love the challenge!
