SUBJECT: 360 degree panorama of the refurbished lobby

What better time to shoot the empty lobby of Athens' most prestigious address? 4am? I'm game. The fact is, that's about the only time you'll find it empty enough to accomplish such a shot. This Luxury Collection property was refurbished in 2006, just prior to the arrival of the Summer Olympics in Athens. The mosaic patterns tiled into the floor, the detailed trim, the rich woodwork, all lend themselves to what I call the "perfect panorama". It provides enough interest and detail to WARRANT a panoramic exposure.

These images are not easy, and no automation of any kind is used to create our panoramas. This image was created from 36 individual exposures, shot at ten degree increments. These exposures were then meticulously blended by hand in Photoshop, creating a full 360 degree panorama.

The subject needs to be worthy of this kind of effort, and the Hotel Grand Bretagne most certainly qualifies. The 321 rooms is located in historic address which encompasses a rooftop garden from which to view the Acropolis, and a wine cellar in the basement which houses more than 3,000 bottles of wine.
